Italian manufacturer Ronchini Massimo S.r.l. is bringing its specialized RM Technologies SkyMill milling machine across the Atlantic. Distributed exclusively through CENTRIC International, this compact, enclosed system is making its official debut at IMTS 2026 in Chicago.

The machine targets manufacturers working daily with aluminum, composites, advanced materials, and technical plastics. The SkyMill's design focuses on specific, heavy-duty engineering choices aimed at maximizing production throughput within a highly versatile 80 x 42.5-inch cutting format.
At the exact center of the SkyMill's performance is a 14 kW electrospindle. It spins up to 24,000 rpm and utilizes an HSK63F tool interface to maintain maximum rigidity during high-speed cutting routines. This technical setup provides the necessary velocity for smooth surface finishes on composite structures, alongside the structural power needed for aggressive material removal in thick aluminum platework.

To sustain continuous operations without constant operator intervention, the machine includes an automatic tool changer equipped with 30 distinct positions and an integrated tool-length presetting sensor for rapid setups.
Workholding flexibility on this platform is handled by a substantial 2,030 x 1,080 mm milled and ground aluminum worktable. The table features eight independently selectable vacuum zones, allowing machine operators to quickly secure large sheets or isolate specific areas for smaller, intricate parts.

For heavier cutting forces or highly irregular part geometries, built-in structural provisions easily accommodate traditional mechanical clamping setups. The overall machining workflow is further supported by a protected Renishaw probe. This hardware completely automates part measurement, stock alignment, and work-offset setting, while enabling intelligent machining recovery if a part needs to be repositioned mid-cycle.
Process control extends deep into chip and thermal management. The mill uses a Minimal Quantity Lubrication (MQL) system with dual nozzle sprays to cool the cutting zone effectively without flooding the entire enclosure with liquid. For dust and debris control, a height-adjustable extraction hood captures airborne chips right at the cutting source.

While the standard package features an intuitive Fanuc CNC control with a massive 27-inch touchscreen display, the underlying platform remains highly customizable. Depending on unique customer production requirements, operators can choose a Mitsubishi CNC control system, a faster 36,000 rpm HSK40 spindle, or high-precision linear scales for tighter tolerances.
