Over 40 Innovators Join Forces in the New IMTS AI Arena
The strategic ambition to improve manufacturing efficiency is driving a massive industry shift toward Industrial AI. This technical evolution takes center stage at IMTS 2026, the International Manufacturing Technology Show, returning September 14--19 to McCormick Place in Chicago. Occupying over 1.2 million square feet and hosting more than 1,800 exhibitors across 10 technology sectors, the massive exhibition will serve as a launchpad for machine intelligence tools designed to move operations past minor, incremental gains into scalable, automated productivity.
To address this rapidly growing technological priority, IMTS 2026 is debuting two distinct, high-impact additions: the Industrial AI Arena and the Industrial AI Conference.
The dedicated Arena space gathers more than 40 established industry leaders and emerging technical innovators. Here, attendees can directly evaluate applied AI software and hardware built to tackle persistent shop-floor issues. The displays focus heavily on practical tools with measurable outcomes across quality inspection, process optimization, machine downtime reduction, factory cybersecurity, workforce safety, and localized demand forecasting.
Running alongside the physical exhibition, the Industrial AI Conference takes place on Wednesday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT. Developed alongside Dr. Jay Lee and the University of Maryland's Center for Industrial AI, this one-day, practitioner-focused event provides a structured framework for implementation.
Sessions will demystify predictive maintenance, weigh edge versus cloud deployment strategies, and define exactly what "machine-learning-ready" data looks like in a real-world manufacturing environment. Attendees will walk away with clear strategies on how to leverage their existing factory infrastructure, prioritize high-value automation investments, and navigate critical implementation trade-offs.
