The Omega TMM ASTRA combines tool presetting and thermal shrink-fit capabilities into a unified, all-in-one platform. Engineered with a pearlitic cast iron base using a symmetrical design, this system provides the thermal and structural damping necessary to deliver repeatable, micron-level measurements on the production floor.
A core advantage of the system is its ability to execute fast, automated tooling workflows through up to seven full CNC axes.

Utilizing the Perfect Set feature, operators can control tool height settings to a tolerance of +/- 5 microns. The induction shrink architecture features a 2-inch coil paired with an integrated fume extraction system and automated unshrinking functionality to safely remove damaged cutting tools.
To optimize processing cycles for high-volume batches, a separate length verification spindle works in tandem with the HP CNC power clamping spindle, allowing quick serial shrinking of varying tool lengths and diameters without halting the primary measurement workflow.
The user interface is spread across three strategic viewing points, including a 27-inch main kiosk monitor, a 21.5-inch touch screen for tool length tracking, and an secondary 21.5-inch monitor positioned behind the spindle.
Driven by the OPTIK+ software suite, the platform offers automated edge detection using a 70x magnification lens and a precision tool tip finder. Once a tool is heated and assembled, the integrated C.H.I.L.L. automated cooling system and a liquid-cooled tray rapidly lower tool temperatures for safe deployment. The equipment adapts to digital factory workflows through RFID tag compatibility, automated data management modules, and custom label printing, allowing manufacturers to push tool offset data directly to CNC machinery.
