The "Amazon of Metal" Adds Custom Tube Bending to Its Digital Arsenal
The traditional bottleneck of metal fabrication -- waiting weeks for a quote only to face steep order minimums -- is being dismantled by OSH Cut. Headquartered in Spanish Fork, Utah, the online manufacturing leader recently announced the launch of instant CNC tube bending services, a move that brings the convenience of e-commerce to precision structural fabrication.
By integrating this new capability into their sophisticated automated quoting system, OSH Cut allows engineers, roboticists, and innovators to receive immediate manufacturability feedback and pricing on bent-tube components. This launch directly addresses 2025 customer survey data, which identified tube bending as the most sought-after addition to the company's existing sheet metal services.
What sets this rollout apart is the release of a proprietary in-browser configuration tool. Recognizing that not every manufacturer has immediate access to 3D CAD software, OSH Cut developed a first-of-its-kind interface that enables users to design bent-tube parts from scratch within their browser. These designs can be instantly queued for production or exported as .STEP files, bridging the gap between conceptual design and physical hardware.
"Sourcing one-off metal parts was a massive hurdle for most people before we launched eight years ago," says Caleb Chamberlain, CEO of OSH Cut. He notes that modern professionals expect the same "Amazon-like" speed and transparency in their professional procurement as they do in their personal lives. By automating first-principles design inspection and production workflows, OSH Cut can process thousands of unique SKUs weekly without the overhead that typically scares off traditional manufacturers from small-batch work.
The service currently supports a robust selection of materials, including A513, 4130, and DOM 1020 steel, alongside 304 stainless steel and aluminum. Capabilities presently cover diameters up to 1.5" and wall thicknesses up to 0.120", though Chamberlain confirmed that tooling for 3"-diameter tubing is slated for later this year. For projects requiring only straight cuts, the company's laser tube cutting infrastructure can handle outer diameters up to 10".
