For many in the additive manufacturing world, the "aha!" moment happens when the printer finishes a build. But the reality that follows is often less glamorous: a desk covered in rough-textured parts that require hours of manual sanding and smoothing to become market-ready.

AM Solutions is looking to change that narrative with the launch of the new M1, a compact system designed to turn post-processing from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage.
Replacing the original M1 Basic, this updated system is less of an entry-level tool and more of a "versatile allrounder" for manufacturers. While 3D printing has mastered complex geometries, the industry has long struggled with surface quality. The M1 tackles this by consolidating smoothing, grinding, polishing, and deburring into a single vibratory platform. Whether you are working with polymers or metals, the goal is the same: industrial-grade finishing without the industrial-sized footprint.

One of the most practical shifts in the M1 is its ability to multitask. A clever new divider system allows users to run up to three different process steps simultaneously. This means a single batch can progress through multiple finishing stages without the operator constantly pausing to swap out media. Colin Spellacy, Head of UK Sales at AM Solutions, notes that while the previous model proved the concept, the new M1 was built specifically in response to user demands for better ergonomics and process stability.
The upgrades go beyond just software. The system now includes a fresh-water connection, enabling the use of specialized Keramo-Finish® technology for high-gloss surfaces. Additionally, a redesigned material cart simplifies the separation of parts from media, reducing the manual labor that typically slows down production.

For businesses currently stuck between manual R&D and massive, fully automated lines, the M1 provides a bridge. It offers a repeatable, PLC-controlled way to ensure every part looks professional, allowing manufacturers to scale up their production without losing their minds -- or their margins -- in the finishing department.
