Robotic Automation Raises Spirits and Bottom Line at Texas Pipe Manufacturer

LB Pipe & Coupling opened its plant in Texas just 8 years ago to service the oil and water well industries. After a short period of time, they recognized the need to adapt and switched from mostly manual labor to user-friendly robotic cells. The result has been a significant increase in capacity and employee morale.

LB Pipe & Coupling Products, LLC (lbpipeandcouplingproducts.com) has accelerated its growth by installing two robotic machine tending systems from ABB Robotics. Founded in 2010, LB Pipe of Magnolia, Texas manufactures high-quality precision couplings for the water well, oil country industry and American Petroleum Institute (API)-certified markets.

In moving to user friendly robotic automation, LB Pipe has been able to increase production and product quality, while providing a safer environment and increased responsibilities for its employees.

ABB has a complete line of vision-enabled industrial robot systems for machine tool tending for such applications as CNC lathes, vertical machine centers, horizontal machine centers and grinders.

Each system features an ABB IRB 6700 industrial robot, ABB's seventh generation of industry-leading, large industrial robots, delivering enhanced speed, payload, accuracy and a 20 percent lower total cost of ownership than comparable robot models (ABB.com/robotics).
