Latest CAD/CAM Software Reduces Milling Time By Combining Machining of Side Faces and Flatter Regions

With the CAD/CAM software Pictures by PC 3.6 from German software developer SCHOTT SYSTEME GmbH, NC programming and milling times are now further reduced.

These savings are due to numerous new machining strategies included within their latest Pictures by PC 3.6 software release.

Hybrid finishing, for example, generates toolpaths within a single finishing operation, to optimize and combine the machining of side faces and flatter regions.

An improved rest material recognition both analyzes and marks areas that require further machining with a smaller tool. This enables the residual material to be completely removed.

The existing pocketing operations are now complemented by the inclusion of trochoidal milling. The radial toolpaths facilitate the machining of extremely hard materials, improve the machine dynamic through 'smoother' toolpaths, and extends tool life.

In addition, SCHOTT SYSTEME has included improvements to the toolpath simulation, and has combined existing milling, 5 axis simultaneous and turning operations for fully integrated mill / turn.
